What is underfloor heating?

Underfloor heating is a form of heating system. It is installed under the floor and keeps the floor and the rooms warm from the bottom. It can be installed under any type of floor, including wood, tiles and carpet. There are two types of underfloor heating; electric and water. Electric underfloor heating is also known as dry system, and water underfloor heating is known as wet system. However, the more popular one is the electric heating system. Electric underfloor heating system is a series of electric wires or electric heating sheets installed under or inside the floor. And water underfloor heating system is a series of pipes under the floor.

What are the benefits of underfloor heating system?

Underfloor heating is eco-friendly, it saves money, is saves space because you don’t need the radiators, it also provides the comfort because the floor is always warm and the heat is released in the whole room area not in just one part, it takes less time for the room to become warmer because the heat is being released in the whole room and goes upwards, instead of hear being released from one part of the room and diffusing all around. Also, over time the cost of underfloor heating will be cheaper than radiators.

What are the costs of installation and how long will it take?

The cost of the underfloor heating will vary depending on the size of the room and which type of underfloor heating you’d like. However, the price will be approximately £2800-£3000, or £30 per meter square for materials. The price of installation will vary depending on who are you going to hire to install the heating and which part of the UK you live in. Some places in UK might have higher prices and some lower. E.g. prices in London might vary depending on postcodes or zones.
